Marine Co
Marine product supplier Marine Co wanted to expand in order to increase productivity, but was worried about the responsibility of taking on a new member of staff.
The small Torpoint firm had a team of five and, while they wanted to bring young blood into the business, the current economic uncertainty made them reluctant to take the risk.
But we were able to develop an Apprenticeship for 17-year-old Ethan that met Marine Co’s needs, plus support his salary and training costs.
Chris Dinham, Managing Director of Marine Co, said: “The scheme gave us the confidence to take on Ethan and invest in both his and Marine Co’s future.”

Ethan, from Sheviock, Torpoint, is delighted to be getting a guaranteed salary while developing production skills and qualifications. He said: “I’m learning about rigging and splicing. The older and more experienced guys are teaching me loads. Doing this Apprenticeship means I can now plan for my future.”
