New Cash Incentive for Businesses Hiring a New Apprentice

Whether you are a small or large employer, you can now apply for a £2,000 cash incentive for each new apprentice aged under 25 that you hire by the 31st of January 2021, and £1,500 for apprentices aged 25 and over.

The new cash incentives for employers are part of the Government’s Plan for Jobs and are in addition to the existing £1,000 payment for new 16-18-year-old apprentices, and those aged under 25 with an Education, Health and Care plan. The incentives can be used on anything to support your organisational costs, for example uniforms, apprentice’s travel or their salary.

To be eligible, you will need to hire an Apprentice who:

  • Is new to your organisation;
  • Starts their contract of employment and their apprenticeship by the 31st  of January 2021.

The incentives are paid in 2 equal installments after the Apprentice completes 90 and 365 days of their Apprenticeship.
